Actually TM the Chronarch 50 Mg is the lightest reel on the market currently. 5.9 ounces I think. Also just to let you guys know that there is NO warranty from Shimano on the Japanese model reels. So you may have been lucky in the past but I know they have been a little more strict lately.

Good luck in your decision with what reel to purchase. I recommend that you put the reel on a rod and see how it feels in your hand. Since you will be holding onto it for several hours a day.Make sure it's comfortable to you. I would lean more towards the Shimano but that's just me }(
