I'm thinking about getting back into tubing or buying a kickboat,what do you think about this style rod holder as opposed to the rod holder that holds your rods vertically.input is appreciated.also while were on the subject anyone know were to buy kickbboats in the central coast area? i'll drive from ventura to atascadero for a new one.

Hey Brian..its Bryan. That one doesn't look that bad if you are only going to bring two maybe three rods with you...On my Floattube I have made a rod holder that straps to the side of the tube, pretty basic to build, but yeah its a vertical one. If I can be of any help let me know..since I'm local. As for buying one around here on the Central coast its slim pickings...I have saw TUBES at Big 5, Copelands (SLO), and even Walmart....but no kickboats. I actually bought both my tube and the kickboat on-line.

thanks i'm looking for them (kickboats and waders)on ebay right now i will post a few pics of the boats im thinking to get feedback from you and the others .is it hard to get and put away rods in your tube/boat? and how about a net can your holder accomodate a net? thanks , brian

From what I have seen, Eagle Outdoors ( http://www.outdrs.com ) has some of the best prices. At least on the ODC models. I ordered mine from them about a year ago and it was shipped no problems. Also, they carry the force fins for pretty cheap. Check them out.

By the way, don't you have a problem with the rods/reels getting soaking wet having them like that? In lakes with jetskiers and boaters the waves would keep the equipment soaked all the time. A big problem when the weather turns colder.

On my tube, I used a plastic Berkeley 3-rod vertical holder that is for boats. I used two 1/2-inch wide nylon web utility belts from REI to secure it to the tube. I just screwed the straps onto the holder between the rod tubes and then they just go around the tube. They have nylon buckles that cinch down pretty well. The holder is like $10 and the straps were like $3 for the pair. Add another to the other side of your tube and carry six sticks! Keeps them out of casting way pretty well.
