393, Armageddon's available

As long as I am stirring up trouble, the Armageddon is available now on TW. This subject seems to stir some strong emotions with some, so everyone remain calm, no one is going to come and take the money out of your pocket for it.

The price you ask? A cool $250

How about a Castaic Hardbait autographed by Mike Long for you lure collectors out there? What'll it be going for on Ebay in a few years?

Happy new year everyone!

Rob,
Are you planning on buying one of those baits for 250? I am probably going to get like 10 and fish the in the heaviest cover I can find with some 8 or 10lb florocabon so the fish can see the line!!

Just thinking it is funny that alot of guys in Cal propably have more money into swimbaits than there boats am I right there??

Am I going to buy one for $250, not likely. I had a prototype that was given to me but I broke it in half by bouncing it off the bank once. These production baits are supposed to be a lot more durable, but unless I hear some totally insane stories of giant bass being caught on it and see some pics to go with, it's unlikely I'll ever own one.

I have seen both the Armageddon (this new one) and the 3:16 wake bait in the water. Personally I felt like the wake bait had a better action. That's just my opinion, other people might disagree. The action of a lure is a subjective thing after all!

The action of the wake bait is very similar on top to an MS Slammer, a bait which I obviously like a great deal. I think the paint jobs and profiles on the wake bait and on the Armageddon both look excellent and that could get you some additional bites during the day time. At night time I doubt there would be much difference between these baits and a Slammer.

So overall, would I like to have these baits? Yes absolutely. If I was rich would I buy them? You bet. Will I own them any time soon? Not unless they are given to me or I see rediculous fish being caught on them. I have enough in my box right now to get by :) And yeah my baits are probably worth what my boat is worth lol.

I've wanted one of those baits for quite a while but i never expected for them to be over 100, on a seperate but similar note tell me your opinions ,i saw the mike long autographed castaics were for and extra 50 bucks over the regular price,do you think there will be a real collector value on these? I know mikes a big deal here in california but how about anywere else? I wouldnt usually buy a bait to collect and not use but i may swoop over and get one if it seems like a good idea to you.

There is really no plastic bait that is worth over 100.00 it is just people trying to rip you off.

I would have bought it if they where in the price range of the wake bait, but $250 puts its beyond my reach. I know I can probably spend that easy in a matter of time replacing lost swimbaits and tackle. But the price creates a mental wall that I just can't justify myself over. Maybe the bait is worth every penny, and would get me bit more often, guess I'll never know.

swimbaitking805 - I'm not really the best person to ask about collectibles... I don't really collect lures except to fish with them, so I don't know much about valuations on collectible lures.

The site says some of the money from the baits goes to a fishing charity so that's pretty cool, and to me a more compelling reason to buy it than the collectable aspect. But I really wouldn't base your decision on my input.
