If someone was too make a moderate sized swimbait 6-9 in. out of wood and around the price range of 30-50 bucks what would it look like, what depth, and what action (hurt or healthy). i'm about to start producing baits that i can pop out quick and get on the shelves fast but would like to know what the fisherman want. FIRE AWAY.

mabey you should try to make a MS slammer type bait that will run deeper? I made one that is just like a slammer but will run at 10ft w/ the same action, problem is that it is kinda a pain to add the weight and find out exactly how much you need since it varies from lure to lure since no 2 pices of wood are exactly the same.

Also mabey you could make a big sammy type top water trout? I am sure it would be great, since there are not many made that are reasonably priced and look good you would probably sell a bunch too!

I hope these ideas help you out a bit and mabey get you thinking, idealy what I need is a swimbait for the delta that dosent just catch STRIPERS everytime I use one out there I end up w/ stripers x(

Really... I want lures that look as much like real trout as possible and swim as much like a real trout as possible. If you cover those two things, you're doing good. If it has a good hook setup so you can actually land the fish, that's even better.

Everyone likes to make their stylized versions of trout but there's only a few baits that really look like trout. Props to Huddleston for making a bait perfectly shaped and painted like a trout. I like those baits a lot. The eye on the Huddleston is the best trout eye I've seen too - it really looks like a fish's eyeball.

Action wise, I like subsurface baits that have action like stocker trout and live trout softbait. Really natural swimming motions. The kind of motion that when you reel it by your buddy, he does a double take to see if it was a real fish that just went by.

If you make a surface bait, I like the action on the Slammer. It just moves right through the water. The 3:16 wake bait moves the right way on top too.

A bait with great action that looks like a real trout is going to get big bites, it's that simple. The baits that work all prove this to me in my mind.

I would like a wood suspending or very slow sinking bait. It's easier said then done though, don't think that would be quick bait to bang out though but there's allot of surface baits out there already.

Just remember quality over quantity is the better bait in my opinion, seal it really good and don't cheap on the hardware.

I would like to see something kind of like a trout senko. Basically same wiggle kind of action but in a big trout profile. I really have no idea how well it would work but I wouldn't mind trying something like it out.
