1113, Champion Boats - did they go out of business?
Posted by theblankslate, Tue Jan-29-02 12:40 PM
Hey gang,

I've been crusing a number of classified websites for bass boats and I've seen a large influx of champion boats for sale recently. I've heard a rumor, but I'm not sure if it's true, that Champion Boats went of out business. Checking www.championboats.com come up with an error message that the site is unavailable.

Can anyone confirm this? If so, what does that mean for warranty and service issues that may arise from buying a used boat?

Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It is indeed defunct! However a company that owns several lines of boats including ranger has purchased the company and once the chapter 11 thing and all the other financials get worked out champion will be back in business under new management as it were. I don't think I'll be selling off my 3 year old 187 Elite for many, many years as it would be a knee jerk reaction that would cost you hard earned cash in deprication on a well made boat. Face it if anything goes wrong with them it isn't the hull it's the stuff that gets bolted onto, into them that will wear out. If the hull goes your off to see the local boatwright anyway.
