Question for you guys...

I am setting up the best fishing trip my boyfriend could ever imagine for his B-day. BUT, I need ideas. Money is no object. I need a 3 to 5 day trip. Anywhere in the WORLD. No elbow to elbow boats... The web is littered with ideas, but I want to know what everyone has experienced first hand. Where could someone catch sailfish, dorado, wahoo, peacock bass, snook, snapper and tarpon. And don't give me FLORIDA. I know you guys have good ideas!!!!!! Fisherman are great lovers!!!!!!
thank you very much.
Nancy

Well Nancy, three destinations come to mind when I think of world class fishing. Keep in mind though the time of year your BF's birthday falls on and the possibility that 3-5 days may not be a substantial amount of time to fish these parts of the world. Anyhow, here you go. JMO, of course:

1) Costa Rica

2) Northeastern Australia ( Cairns )

3) Amazon Basin ( Brazil, Bolivia, Venezuela )

You might want to consider combining two destinations into your fishing extravaganza. Like doing the Costa Rica thing for Black Marlin, Roosterfish, Sailfish, etc. and then heading to the Amazon Basin for Peacock Bass, Piraracu, Aruana, Payara, giant Catfish and even Piranha. I'll leave you to do the research on these places but I hope this gives you a little insight. Wherever you go, good fishing and have a blast.

P.S. Your boyfriend is one heck of a lucky guy. I'm jealous. Really. If he ever pisses you off.........

GO BRUINS....GO RAMS....GO FISHING....!!!!

Hi Nancy... or is it really Drew??

What you are looking for is a trip to Costa Rica. The duration of your trip will force you to choose between bluewater fishing for Sails, Dorado, Marlin and Wahoo or basically Mangrove and estuary fishing for Tarpon, snook, bonefish, and snappers.

Costa Rica offers both but you have to decide. If you prefer the bluewater species you need to look into the Pacific side. If you want the others you need to go to the other side of the peninsula. Better yet, if you can stay longer, go for both.

Check out Crocodile Bay Lodge for a great turn key destination. Based on your information I think this may be you best bet:

There is a lot of good info. about Costa Rica at this website especially sportfishing:

Do you have a sister ? just kidding. Go to Lake of the Woods Canada - before it's all over fished. It is awesome for smallmouth, largemouth, walleye, lake trout, northern pike, musky, huge crappie, perch and best of all - no people. We see more bears, moose, whitetail deer and bald eagles than people when were there. Ontario Canada, the opener is May 23 I think. Go within the first 2 months after the opener. It is awesome. We go every year and it is so nice to hear no noise. Think about it, have you ever heard no sounds with the exception of the trees ? Oh and the lake ? I mean it. Think about it.

Nice Trout, I've been spoiled by the Bitteroot. My dad lives just outside of stevensville in the Bitteroot valley. I started fishing there about 20 years ago, I try to get back there every summer if I can. The trout are plentiful and fat. Personal best for me from the bitteroot is 27" Rainbow caught on a dave's hopper cast up next to the bank. I have broken off larger fish than that. There are some monster browns there too.
