2062, Hooked bass and his buddy? Posted by Drop_Shot, Sat Jun-14-03 12:30 PM
The other day I was fishing and got into some fish, each time I would hook one I could see another one following the hooked fish. I have never seen this before, it would follow him right up to the boat.

If you have another rod rigged (and a two rod license stamp), you can easily get a double going by holding the follower a few feet down and away from the boat and quickly toss out the other bait for his pal. Or have a partner cast for the follower--much easier. We do this with calicos a lot in saltwater.

They are following the hooked fish trying to steal the "food" that it has.
David is right about the calicos. On the Q105 skiff trip a couple weeks ago we had wide open bites where there would be several large followers desperately snapping at the hooked fish trying to get the swimbait.
