I just finished my copy today. I couldnt put it down. It was fascinating. I was a little disapointed at the way Monte portrayed Mike but other than that It was a great read. I could totaly relate to those guys.

I thought it was an excellent read also. Matt, do you know Mike? Did Monte portray him dishonestly? Just curious, I'm far away from the So Cal trophy scene.

Yes I know Mike. Durring thier fishing trip to San V Mike had ended the trip early because as he put it, Monte was just looking for dirt.
The discription of Mike is right on the money. He is a freak! Like Jordan or Woods. He fishes extreemly hard and I beleive the author captured that side of him well. What I didnt like was the book kinda made him sound arrogant and Mike is not. He is confident but not an ass. He is always trying to help guys catch more big fish. He has personaly told me whare a few giants live and given me advise on how to catch them. He has also helped me with lure ideas. The chapter "The San Diego Zoo" is a result of Mikes shortened fishing trip with Monte and he basicaly wrote the chapter using Jeds and Macs side of the story because Mike wouldnt go there. The situation isnt bad down here at all but it made for interesting reading. I will say this about Jed and his crew. I was at Dixon last season and they worked as a team to not give me much of the shorline to check for big fish. After all of us had covered the lake and decided that no big fish were up we were friendly and talked a little. I dont think they did any thing wrong but I was a little anoyed. I still gota hand it to them though, They are good at being the first ones to the spots.
