7056, 6/2 at the Oceano Lagoon

Went with PAH to the lagoon to see who was home. PAH was in the water by 5pm and I jumped in a half an hour later. The weeds have grown quite a bit in there and it feels like velvet. The stuff is weird, as it doesn't matter what you throw, that lure/bait will get wrapped in the stuff. We tried around the island, PAH working the east side and I worked the west, but the moss was too much. We then went under the bridge to the north side.
On the north side, the weeds weren't as prominent. The duckweed is beginning to form on the water and according to a lady who lives nearby, the weeds we keep snagging up with will sink in the next couple of weeks and the duckweed will begin to take over. As we began to work the east arm, PAH tried the peninsula while I worked the shore. PAH ended up hooking a 1.6 & a 1.9 pound bass in some wood while I caught a 1.0 and a 1.7 in the tules. On our way back PAH tried one more spot where he got hit earlier and ended up hooking his fish. It was over a pound and all were caught on Senkos. PAH was throwing 5" bubble gum and I was throwing a 7" chartreuse.
A good way to spend a Sunday evening.
