I took my friend Ben and his friend Bethany up to the lake today. It was kind of a squeeze in my screaming
14 foot john boat =) but we cruised over to Murphy's bay to try for some trout around 2pm. The trout
fishing was kind of off, with some shore guys getting a few. Bethany caught her first fish ever (a bluegill)
which was cool but that was all for that spot. Next we tried white oak for trout or bass or whatever but it
was slow. Finally, acting on a tip from Dean at Angler's Outpost we headed up to the narrows to try for some
crappie. It was a good tip because we started catching them right away one 1" white grubs. In the next two
hours or so we caught about 15 crappie and a couple bluegill keeping three crappie for the bbq. It was a lot
of fun on 2lb test and saved what was otherwise a slow day. Look for 12-14 feet of water up by the buoy
line and you should find some crappie.
