Another late evening trip to the lake today. It was howling windy mid day but backed off by 6 or so when I
got there. After finally getting one on the Castaic baby bass last trip I decided to fish it again. I pulled my
boat out and made two casts in the cove were I keep it. Second cast along some tulles I get nailed by a nice
fish. I brought here to the boat and saw that the hook was right on the outside corner of her lip. This let the
fish get it's mouth shut tight and while I was trying to lip the fish she tore off under the boat. I'm guessing
the fish was close to five pounds so that was a bummer. Working the rest of the marina cove I had two
follow ups on the ac minnow by 3 pound or so fish but they chickened out both times. As it was getting dark
I crossed the lake so some small coves and threw the baby bass again. First point I came across I hooked up
and landed a decent one around 3 lb which I didn't weigh. Working that area I landed three more as it was
getting dark with two around 3 pounds and one weighed at 3lb 15oz. Nice trip but it was chilly. Dean has live
shad at the marina and said he absolutely nailed them this morning on 4lb test getting numbers of fish up to
4lb 4oz.
