Has anyone had any success off the dam at Silverwood now that the trout plants have resumed? Any trout being caught? Thanks.

Terry

Silverwood is open to fishing on the dam 24/7, and DFG is planting trout there. For sure.

Terry, I thought of going but, got scared because of the car break ins. Too bad I don't have a permit to carry a firearm. I don't have an alarm either. Maybe I could use that Kung-Fu I learned from watching Bruce Lee movies. :+

I've never been broken into at the damn, and I've fished there plenty. The secret? Don't show up in your brand new truck. My car is a beat to hell civic with writing on the windshield from when it was impounded 6 months ago. Nobody would ever think it has anything worth taking in it.

Trout fishing, lmb, striper and cats are all good at the damn. It gets deep REAL QUICK, and the stripers love to hide out in the rocks waiting for fish. Not the most comfy of places, but cool.

Let me know how busy it is up there! I don't really want to head all the way over knowing its packed end to end with bratty whiny kids fishing for stocked trout. :P Know what I mean? The damn is a place for solitude...at least it WAS.

Is it far from the parking area down to the dam?

Nemorino- it's not too far down to the dam. I'm a bad judge of distance but I'd say 2 or 300ft to the beginning and then you have the whole length of the dam. I've never walked the entire thing, it's a good distance, not as long as Perris.

Thanks PHISHnutS. I think I will be trying my luck this Saturday. And with the trout plants I guess there will be a lot of people making it a bit safer.

Just like 7-eleven.24/7 :D

It was before the fires and floods, and I don't believe it's changed. I would'nt worry too much about someone breaking into your vehicle, I've fished all night over a dozen times without a problem...knock on wood ;-)

Good luck...

Every time I've gone up there after dark, there is a gate they close to the access rd from 138. Unless you want to walk up that grade...
