13756, Fishing near Malibu?
Posted by Mickster, Wed Jun-30-04 09:33 AM
Hey all-
My wife and I, with the kids loaded in the back, go down to see my mother-in-law every couple of months or so down in Malibu. I'm wondering what there is to fish, either from shore or from a tube. I'm thinking primarily freshwater here. When poking around on the web, I found Malibu (spelled Malibou) Lake which is private and security enforced, and Malibu Creek State Park. I also found the Rock Pools and Century Lake. Anyone know about these and/or other spots? Access will need to be able to handle wife and kids.
Thanks,
Mickster.

I've fished Malibu Creek State Park once. There are some reflection pools and a small lake up the hill (a short hike). I believe you can tube there, but I'm not certain. You might be able to do a google search to find more information or at least a number to call.

I didn't have any luck fishing the one and only time I went there - but was told by others fishing there that the small lake does hold bass... and the creek has trout at certain times of the year.

It's been awhile since I took my family camping there, but above the bridge there was a couple pools loaded with carp the size of my leg. My sons and I would spend the whole afternoon catching and releasing them, sometimes same one a few times, great fun, and they are big, a few topping 20 pounds.
The bass were on the small side but great fun on ultralight gear.
