14024, 2nd Annual RainbowTrout.com Float Tube Tournament
Posted by calicobass, Fri Aug-20-04 10:52 AM

We all started pouring into the parking lot around 6am.
Turnout was on the light side this year, but that just
allowed for everyone to get to know each other a little
better. Here are some of the guys haning out and getting
ready for the event...

Here is Chad Woods (Owner, Sportfishingreport.com) filling
everyone in on the details and rules of the tournament.

Once everyone was briefed, it was time to launch.
Everyone launched and watied for Keith (Owner, RainbowTrout.com)
to give the "go ahead". Here are some shots of the crew
waiting to fish.

The weather was PERFECT! There had been thunderstorms
the day before, but today was awesome. What a great day
to be fishing!

Mike jumped out to an early lead, and started whacking 'em
on crawlers and PB. Mike caught the most fish in the tournament;
he had 13. Here is Mike showing off a nice little stocker.

Here is David Valenzuela. This guy was unbelievable.
He landed THREE brown trout during the tournament. We nicknamed
him "Brown Trout Guy". So, here is Brown Trout Guy landing
one of his browns!

Dennis caught the second most fish with 10. He got
most of his fish on PB. This was Dennis's first time tubing
for trout. Way to go!

Though bait was doing the trick for Mike and Dennis,
Gayle decided to stay with her lures. Patience and persistence
paid off as Gayle hooked into the winning fish. CONGRATS Gayle!!!

After the tournament, awards were given out and we had a
raffle in which everyone walked away a winner! Prizes
inlcuded shirts, hats, lures, dinner for 2 gift certificates,
a rod/reel combo, and much more! Chad and Keith made sure
that nobody walked away empty-handed.

After the awards and raffle, the destination was Gull Lake
where the Volunteer Fire Dept was having it's annual BBQ.
RainbowTrout.com treated everyone to a tasty BBQ lunch.

Next year should be even better! Keep your eyes open next
year for updates!!!

Sorry guys! :o The tournament was held at Silver Lake in the June Lake Loop.

The decision was made at the last minute to have the tournament so it wasn't advertised much. We probably would have had a better turn-out if it had been advertised.

Next year there should be plenty of notice about the Tournament! Stay tuned.....

I am not 100% sure, but I bet they would be allowed. I will bring it up to Keith.
