I'm in the bay area and am hoping you guys have some recommendations for backpacking trips with trout fishing along the way and/or at the destination. I've done a couple trips up in the Sierra with pretty good results.

Right now I'm looking for something accessible in the winter (I have a friend coming in late December and we want to do a trip) but I'd take any summertime suggestions you have too.

I would say that trailheads should be within a three hour drive of the bay, but I'd be willing to stretch that for a worthwhile place.

I tried asking this question of some backpacking forums...unfortunately they are a little to "green" and don't condone our love of fishing...sometimes I hate California.

Appreciate any suggestions you can offer.
