14597, A lake to Kayak fish for some trout in the LA area

Hi guys I'm new to this board but I was recommended from a fellow fisherman and generally a nice guy. Anyhow he said you guys might be able to point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a lake thats local to the Los Angeles area (an hour or so from WLA) that is accessible by kayak. I'm looking to target trout and don't care if there native, planted or alien with neon stripes on them. I'd like a good chance at catching a fish or two seeing as I'm taking my girlfriend who liked trout. Secondly somewhere to just get away for an day and enjoy our local weather. I've fished, Castaic, Casitas, Isabella and Cachuma (farther the what I'm thinking), Pyramid, Piru and waterskied Elsinore.

I'd appreciate any info you guys could give me. I'm a pretty avid fisherman and can figure the rest out with just a little help on the lake.

Thanks

Mike :-)

You can kayak at Puddingstone and Santa Fe Reservoir and they're both not too far away from West LA. Both lakes receive trout plants at this time of the year.

Thanks guys. Irvine sounds interesting just a little expensive. Is it worth the price of admission. I also don't want to feel I'm at the trout farm, where its mass suicide for trout. Thanks again for any input. I haven't checked into the other lakes but will be doing so shortly.

Thanks

Mike
