Members of both sides of this argument are the product of a successful genocide. The "conservatives" as well as "liberals" of this subject, unless of Native American descent, should only fish in Western Europe according to salmonoid's point.
But seriously, to me fishing (and a fishing spot) has the same sort of appeal that a girlfriend or a valued possession might. I hold it as dear to my heart as I would a girl or a car. "Federal Property" is just a label put in place by an imperialistic government/race/european culture. It ain't a justification to advertise. Not a call to popularize. How did Red Rock succumb to the label of "Federal Land?" INFORMATION about the New World swept across Europe about the beauty of the West, Europeans took over and made it into a back yard for the new residents, and thus far "private interprise" has kept its thieving fingers out of it. (Although various "government institutions" are treating it more and more privately.) Anyway, with anglo POPULARIZATION of California, did the quality of Red Rock improve? I sure don't think so as I trip over beer cans and swim into broken off fishing line. I don't think the Chumash think so. More fishermen = more injury. Folks who dont care who fishes the spot justify their popularization antics with words like "public" and "federal" but they are all just words. I'm acting on feelings. The Chumash lost their arguement and I guess I will to. I love that spot. "Love" has greater meaning to me than "Public" or "Federal." I, like some Native tribes, am going to protect what I love.
