Interesting morning. Went to Almaden Lake to fish norhtwest side of bridge. There is a little cove about 200 yards up from the bridge. I was throwing a Zara Puppy and right to my left a huge splash right on shore. I thought at first it was a carp, but I saw the fish under water--it was a huge 5-7# Bass. A couple seconds later I saw another one that was about the same size, yet coloration was a silverish/white with black vertical patches. The two of them were going after a sick carp that was floating near the shore. They were going after the fish for at least ten minutes. I tried throwing everything I had at them...not interested. The carp finally got up enough steam to swim off. I finally left them alone and walked further down. Started throwing a swimmin fish-like soft shad. As it was coming across some brush, I popped it up to clear the brush. As it fell back in the water, a HUGE bass came right up behing it and tapped it, then turned away. Couldn't get him interested in anything else after that. This guy was probably 7-8#. Like I said, interesting morning. No fish (on my line, that is!)
