Jamon and I fished the Castaic Lagoon float tube tournament Saturday. There were about 70 tubers out on
the lake with cloudy but calm conditions all day. The water was warm and I put one in the boat second cast
on a pins minnow at 1lb-12oz. Jamon switched to the pins and nailed a 3-0 and a 1-12 before 7am along with
2 dinks and a trout which got off. That was it for the reaction bite and we didn't have much luck until 9 or so
when I picked up a 1-2 on a hopkins spoon in the middle of the lagoon. Jamon kicked out and I picked up
another keeper at 1-15 on a rattle trap. We saw a group of guys back where we launched and headed over
to find out that a number of limits had been caught fishing 3-4" finesse worms in greenie weenie and
cinnamon. We tried that and Jamon got an 11 incher. The worm fishing was so boring I kicked back out to
the middle of the lake and got my last and biggest fish, a 2-12 on the rattle trap again. I wound up fishing
one ounce out of 10th place and a prize with 8lb 6oz. They had some nice prizes for the top finishers but the
raffle stuff was comedy with spiderwire, 5 piece fishing poles, and some killer el cheapo polarized barni
sunglasses. Best limit was 14lb and some change on finesse worms. Big fish went 4lb 10oz. Most people
caught fish and had a good time.
