Last week, the trout fishing was slow there...I brought three of my friends with me to "teach" them how to fish and we only caught one. They were biting, but very skittishly. This was in Cottonwood Cove, where it has been fairly decent for trout. It was a beautiful day, though, and not catching fish did not spoil the trip! I'm focusing on bass right now...sick of sitting there for trout! Try the very end of the Wittenberg Arm for bass shorefishing. There is a nice cove tucked away back there. Just take the main road all the way to the end, park where you are able, and then walk the rest of the way. I caught some nice ones there last week on plastics and spinnerbaits. The marina sells the 6" Berkley Power Pulse Worm (Blue Fleck) and those yeilded my biggest bass of the week, including a nice 5 pounder. Also, any other dark colored large plastic worms, especially purple, blue, black, green and red...all those colors caught me fish last week...just Texas rig them and fish them very, very slow. I'm heading there all day tomorrow and will be trying some surface lures early in the morning to see if I can't get them to wack the surface...that would be very cool! I'll be using the usual, Rebel Pop-Rs, Heddon Zara Spooks. I'm going to even try Rapala Floating Minnows and Yozuri Pins Minnow. Otherwise, I'll be using all plastics and spinnerbaits. They are spawning in the shallows, so be sure to keep the lure active all the way up to the shore, you might be surprised by a hit right in front of you! Good Luck!
