Summer and I went up to the lake today in the afternoon from 1 to around 5pm. It was a beautiful day, the water is very clear 10 visibility in places, and the shad are up in the marina cove and other areas of the lake.
We started out in the marina cove and I had high hopes but we didn't have any luck or even see any bass. I was trying a new toy, the 7" stocker trout and it looked great but I didn't have any followers or bites. So we moved to another area and I changed to the 7" MS Slammer. Couple casts later an easy 5 comes blasting out of this tree and almost eats it but veered away at the boat. Working down the bank I had 2 more smaller fish do the same thing. So I switched back to the stocker trout and connected with a nice one at 3lbs 9oz. Same spot I see a BEAST in this tree come loafing out to look at my bait but didn't get more than 5 feet from it. The fish was 8 or 9 pounds, a real toad for Margarita. We crusied around some more and I picked up another one about 2 and 3/4 before heading down to ye olde Jackass canyon. We worked the whole cove and finally I'm cranking the stocker in and I see a toad behind it. Instead of keeping on reeling in I killed it and the fish inhaled the whole bait, a nice 5lb 6oz'er. Had one more follow up from another pig but it didn't get close either. That was about it for the day.
Sidenote - I see people, now that it's springtime, in the backs of the coves with bass on stringers. GET A LIFE AND GO EAT A HAMBURGER.
Here's the photography.
The nice one

The 3 and a half

The smaller one
