Today I finally got a chance to go fishing with my good buddy Pete from Wilderness Outfitters up at the lake. We snuck away from the shop at 5pm and were on the water by 6. We started on some main lake points throwing some trout baits. Pete had a 4 come up right to the boat and boil on his 7" stocker trout but not eat it. We worked around in the coves and came out to the next point where Pete hooks up a nice one about 4lbs. Right at the boat I reached down to lip it and it flipped off. It was cool though and we were feeling good to be getting some action on the trout. We went down by white oak and ran some banks with the trout. I had a small on boil on my trout while I reached down to mess with the trolling motor but it missed. Then a follow up a minute later and then a decent one eats it about 15 feet out and starts doing backflips all the way to the boat before getting off right as I was going to swing it in. Guess we needed the net! Well it was getting late so Pete breaks out the big Rico and konks one first cast! He proceeded to teach me a lesson with that big Rico catching at least a half a dozen more to 3lbs. It was a kick watching him catching fish after fish, he really had it dialed in. Late in the evening I finally got 2 on the skitter pop so I felt better =)
All in all a great night at the lake. The topwater is definitely in full swing.
Here's the man himself in action

Rio Rico!

A nice one
