Santa Margarita! Haven't been up there in a while. The lake is down about 3 feet from the full and the weeds are about half as thick as they're going to get, which is still pretty thick. I decided to fish the back of the lake by the dam today since I don't go in there too much. Caught one 2lb'er on the gizzard shad right off the bat and missed another bite. Got to the back of the first cove I worked down and threw frogzilla back in there. Nothing doing on the first couple casts. Then I'm drifting into this mat of weeds and frogzilla is about 10 feet out and I see a nice bass underneath it. Stopped it and pow the fish ate it about 5 feet out. Frogzilla!!! Well I missed the fish. It was fun though. That was all for quite a while. I worked all around the dam until the sun got off the water and I finally got a decent one about 2 n 3/4 on the buzzbait. Ran over to wildman cove after that and worked it hard with the rio rico but only found one small one that wanted to bite. By now it's about dark so I buzzed through the marina cove real quick. Picked up two really nice buzzbait fish, one 3 and a half and another one about 3. bzzzzzzzz woof. I like it.
Carousing the pics at the marina, Dean caught a real nice one the other night on a popper a 6-6. Now that's a good topwater fish.
