413, Senkos, how is one supposed to use them? Posted by , Sun Sep-17-00 02:00 PM
I remember some previous postings about these baits, but can'y find them. Anyone care to enlighten me? I have used the red ones C-rigged, for bay bass in Newport with some luck. I'd like to try them next weekend in that float tube tournament. Seems they might do well in the deeper water in the late morning. Any thoughts or tips? Thanks.

p.s. I'll post this on the tackle board also.

Ed, I am no expert seeing as how I have never caught a single fish on a senko. One good resource though is at Yamamoto at: http://www.insideline.net/ezine/ezine-1-1-senko.html Lots of good stuff. If I have any advice it's "do nothing". As in cast out your senko and let it sink all the way to the bottom. Then leave it there till you are bored and move it a little. Seems to be the general strategy.

You can basically do whatever you want with senkos. Like you said, you c rigged em, that works. Texas rig em, that works. Weightless, oh, that works. Fish em as a jerkbait, twitch em on frog mats, dead stick em, drag em, it's endless. Basically any soft plastic technique, you can do with the senko. -Brian

Thanks guys. Rob, I think I sense some sarcasm in your post, but I'll try your technique too. BTW Rob, nice fish. Thanks again, Amish Ed

I didn't think he was kidding. I just loved that line about waiting till you're "bored." This will be some work for me. I'll fish all day with little action, but I have a hard time with baits that are worked slowly. But' I'll try it.
