Anyone have any info on fishing Lake Mathews. I know it is a DWR lake closed to fishing, but one of you may have gotten in there... Any info would be appreciated.

Mostly skinny sick looking stripers,a few small bass.Definetly not worth all the trouble of getting in and out.The dfg bluestones the lake like every other mounth so theres not much shad or weed growth.Lots of dead fish on the shore, mostly stripes.Dont go its almost on lockdown after 911.And i bet they would just love to get there hands on you your money and all your gear. Not a pretty picture and if you get down to the lake its not any prettyer.Tight lines , release a phatty .

Although I have never been in there, I do know the lake was almost drained recently, and a year or two ago, 6 boats and fishing teams hit the lak at least 2 weekends catching over 600 fish a day (each?) for transfer to Skinner and Diamond valley lake. When the contractor replacing the pumps drained the lake, they got a good look and reported not a hell of a lot there, mostly because of the bluestoning. i am a contractor myself, and with some of the activity out there I suspect they are installing a decent security system so BE CAREFUL....

Thanks again. Any biologists out there want to speculate on the current fish population possibilities given the recent draw-down and catch-and-restock program that CatMaster235C mentioned?
