Hey, that's 2 California boys takin' it to the old gaurd of the south!
Haaaa Haaaaa :D
Robert Lee of Angel's Camp(that's in the Delta) finished in 17th. That's pretty damn respectable too.
Congradulations to all.

Now we've just gotta get B.A.S.S. back out west and hold a Classic in the DELTA!!

Man, I can remember Competitions in years back with Aaron and his Mom "Honey and Sonny we called them" Like it was yesterday. I must be getting really old if Arron's 30 years old. Yeah,! it was a proud day for Santa Barbara and I'll bet Bill Cedar "Taught Jay at his knee" is really tickled. It looked to be an interesting generating type lake. I've yet to be on anything like that...just tidal...Must make or break opertunities!

Jay Yelas, originally from Santa Barbara and Aaron Martens from Castaic (our kick butt great bass fishery in So. Cal.) really looked good on that stage in Birmingham, Alabama in what is considered the Super Bowl of bass fishing! The greatest finish ever for a couple of West Coast guys! Aaron really looked good in that black canvas director's chair for the few moments prior to Jay Yelas being announced as the eventual winner. Was surprised to see that Aaron Martens is losing his hair so I guess shaving it all off is a bit more macho. Anyway, Congratulations to two of the best in pursusit of that little green fish!

P.S. Was I dreaming or did Jay Yelas break Dean Rojas' mark for largest bag on a 4-day BASS tournament or what?
:-)

I thought Yelas was from Tyler, TX? According to the B.A.S.S. article anyway.

Yeah they say he's a native but he learned to fish for bass out here at Lakes Cachuma and Castaic. His grandfather taught him so as far as experience its all from California.:-)
