Fished Lake San Vicente on Saturday with Cameron Smith. Started off the morning on a wind blown main lake point with a 7 inch Optimum Swim Bait in the trout color. First cast produced a solid hit but the fish pulled off after several turns of the handle. On the very next cast (2) 3.5-4 lb bass nailed the plug at the same time. Only got one in the boat but it definitely made my day to see two nice fish on the same plug. Now I thought for sure that I was not going to get another taker but after several more casts had another fish absolutely destroy the trout bait. Turned out to be a very respectable 6.8lb bass. After that the morning wind died and so did the swim bait bite. Got down to business drop shotting finesse worms and ended up with several more very respectable fish. We could have put a limit together well over 20lbs. Not bad for the middle of winter

Yeah buddy I'm fishing the Federation event this Sunday. It could be a slug fest. I'm definitely going to throw the swimbait. I'm going to have a few rigged up. I've got an Osprey bait coming this week. I don't think those fish have seen that one too much. It's got sick action. I know just where to throw it too!

I'll be fishing a combo of swimbaits, Slammers, Ospreys, and the good ol' chocolate blue worms.

Sweetness
Hey after you get a chance to throw those ospreys around it would be killer if you could write a review of them on the Trophy Fishing Board. They look really good.
Good luck in your tourney. hookup!

Ya,

I'll write a review. Hopefully, I'll have a big fish story and a trophy too! Ha.

I've thrown someone elses Osprey at Perris for like 3 casts. It was Eric Brewer's and he was breaking in his boat, and we just stopped to chat with him. He had it tied on to a sweet loomis and corsair setup. I think the corsair is a good reel for that maybe. The new ones might not suck hinde tit like the old ones!!! The Talon's have a real slow fall, but can be fished extremely fast. You can get it to fish deep if you want to. Just slow down. Hard bait to qualify in words. I really was impressed.

With the storms of lately, the big fishes might head to the banks and might be feeding on the trouts. I know big bass get caught in the ugly weather...
