Went to perc ponds on thurs for a full day of fishin. Tried the bass bite in the a.m. and no dice on that one. Hit every pond except the far south one. Seems like float tubes would be the ticket since there are very few places to cast from shore. Finally got lazy and parked a chair at the main lake. Did manage to catch some nice trout all with rainbow powerbait. The south end seems to be the best ticket. They are supposed to be planting on this thurs so I would probably stick to the north end after the plant. No dice on cats tried all day not even a bite. This is the first time I fished the perc ponds so I think it is going to take me a little while to figure out where the cats are holding. Tried chicken liver and clams with no dice. Anyone heard of any big cats coming out of the smaller ponds or are most of the big ones out of the main pond? Just bought a house about 5 minutes away so the cats can run but the cant hide :-)

Z-man out..

I used to fish the perc ponds when I was a kid twenty-five years ago. Glad to see they still give people the chance to fish there. I used to catch bass and trout out of the main pond. Up by the gazebo on that river used to be good too. Take a kid fishing so they to can live to fish like the rest of us. BassMan

How do you feel about PowerBait vs. Live bait? Which one is better at catching planted trout? Are there any other types of bait that work for those Perc ponds trout???

I haven't fished there much at all since my dad passed away but when he lived 3 blocks away, I was there every other weekend from'79 to '89. Never saw much in the way of Catfish, but plenty of bass in the under 4# range with a rare one up to the 7# range. Now I understand the bass are a bit bigger due to some Floridas being put in there. They still don't stock often enough to fatten them up to monster proportions but there might be a 10#er in there somewhere. There are both largies and a very few Smallies in the creek.

Just a mater of time till the big cats come out.
The pond just on the other side of the main island pond is where some big kittys roam.
Any thing from chicken liver to cooked shrimp to suspending a night crawler will do the trick.

Time on the water doesn't cost, it pays!

Please be kind to them Big old bass,
Give C.P.R. a chance

I just moved to campbell and live one mile away from the Perc Ponds. Everytime I roll by there, someone has to spout off about the 20 lb striper that was caught there "last year." But it seems like people keep repeating that story every year - so I'm thinking urban legend. Wade, Zach. - verify?

As far as trout go, I have never picked one up on a crawler there, but PB will knock em on their tails.

Make sure your legit if you go. Local game warden's a dill.

Hey we should do a calfishing roundup there. In the first week of May, DFG plants some bruisers, and by then the bass should be on the chew.

I saw 1 Striper caught there in '87 and it was promptly killed. Someone may have illegally released a few more in there privately. I wouldn't start targeting them unless I saw 10 or more caught in a season that were all fair sized. They can't spawn in there so it's strictly illegal stocking which means probably less than 10 fish total.

The story was some guy caught a 29 lb striper out of the main pond on an AC Plug maybe three? years ago in like december. There was a pic, that looked like it was at the ponds, and the guy took it to Fisherman's Warehouse I think. I still kinda doubt the story, though.
