Fished Castaic today for another excellent day, with lots of nice pre-spawn fish. The incomming front had the fish on a real reaction bite for the whole day. Crawdad cranks, suspending jerk baits, and jigs were the ticket.(fished everything up tight-real tight )

Fished the swim baits when the wind kicked up for nothing. Thought I was gonna get a toad with the conditions. I did see a lot of fish cruising the shallows, and many were in the six to eight pound class. Most of the fish were near the main lake area, but I had good success in a few of the coves all the way to the back. I have not caught that many punks lately. A lot of the fish have that deep water color and look so I think they are starting to consistently stage. This past storm did not put the fish deep at all.

Water temp in the morning was 54. Last week the same pattern was on and the water was 55 in the morning. I think as soon as we get a strong high prtessure ridge that stays a while, fishing will get real consistent for those that are paying attention. Good luck and let them all go to spawn and bite another day. BURGIE
