on Sunday I ended up going to Cachuma. My friend actually called me and we fished from shore all day. We
couldn't rent a boat because his brother was working till 7:30. It's so stupid, I can't drive a boat on Cachuma
because you have to be 16 and I'm only 15 but I can drive a boat on the ocean. What's up with that? okay,
anyway, my friend Todd camped there all weekend and he hadn't caught one single fish of any kind, which I
find kind of difficult to do. The largemouth and smallmouth were both up shallow in the back of Harvey's
Cove. We started out sight fishing, throwing really light, subtle jigs and stuff at the spawning bass. Todd tried
one bass for like and hour and a half. I spotted one suspended over some weeds and threw a little jig at it
and he sucked it up. After about an hour and a half of that, I decided to do some real bass fishing and threw
a spinnerbait over some weeds. On my first cast I got ripped by a 3 pounder. I threw that spinnerbait at least
three dozen more times all over the shoreline with nothing. We went in for some dinner at around 5 and got
back out at around 7. I decided to throw a Castaic threadfin because the bass seemed more active than in
the afternoon. I got one more dink that felt like a clump of moss. As for my friend Todd, every person on the
lake and fishing from shore schooled him hard-core. He caught 0 fish of any kind in three days while I caught
3 in half a day. On Friday, my friend nick went up there instead of me (like I told you on the stardust) and he
hooked up with a decent smallmouth. His drag was really loose for some reason so he buttoned it down but
he tightened it way too much and ended up breaking the tip of his rod, causing him to fall backwards onto
the rocks, break the butt of his rod and slide into the water, then his line snapped. When me and Todd went
on Sunday, we saw the smallmouth swimming around with his red buoyant in it's mouth.
