Hahahahaha. What you just described is CLASSIC harbor fishing with plastic. Those -tap taps- you felt were most likely either little halibut, or croakers. They really piss you off after a while. Try the fastrac minnow, it keeps the ronkies off, and the halibut tend to stick better most of the time.
