14425, Late 7/8 report SD
Posted by bassnet, Fri Jul-13-07 07:58 PM
sorry about the late report, lots has changed since Sunday- anyway, left MB late Sunday morning, hit the 302 around 8:00- not much going on, the radio was a joke. Really bad trip for us all morning, late morning started to head south from the 302 even thought the reports from everywhere but the Hidden Bank were crap, the bite on the 182 from the previous days dried up a bit, and I was hoping we weren't going down to the 390 or 371- pretty rough, short period west windswell and a little NW groundswell made it bumpy. Turned back to the 302 after a few reports of fish biting around 11 a.m., short version they started chewing around 11. we had nothing on the boat after 12 and nobody was in a good mood- got one troll fish on the Rapala X-30 after watching 3 boats around us with multiple hook ups, started slow trolling nice sardines and boxed the area, took a little while but the albies charged the boat and we got 4 nice bait fish, called it a day. Looks like the albies are on the move, hoping the seiners don't wreck the nice YFT bite on the way like they did last year.
