I've been using weedless jig heads with my plastics for bass in the kelp. It let's me get right into the rocks and kelp of the Ventura Harbor breakwater and I've been getting some decent fish off my kayak. The type I like best have a wire weed guard that is less visible than the "toothbrush" style. Both work. I had doubts about hooking ability with a guard on but no problem.
