Decided to drift for Halibut using live bait on the kayak off Ledbetter - the ocean was just too damn nice to pass up a paddle. Turns out that live bait wasnt neccessary as my first drop in 50 ft. with a Kroc, 10 pound test was hammered... thought it was a shark the way he took off, then some head shakes, & up came a 36 inch, 18 pound butt, my best yet. :-)

Nice fish Ojos. On a Kroc @ 50ft though? How do you fish a Kroc that deep? Take it easy

What up DBlaze? that day, I figured Id look for bass and/or structure with my fish finder. Around 50 feet, I metered a small fish & dropped the Kroc. I jigged it once when I felt some serious weight, set the hook and I was on. I think I was just lucky on that drop. I dont think that you can actually meter Halibut - dont think they have a air bladder. But they do hang out in groups and Ill definetly be headed out to the same spot this weekend.:-)
