Went kelp fishing today with Guero Canelo and Papi Chulo. I hadn’t been to the kelp for a while. I had all my Big Moe lures strung up. I had 2 TJWs tied on, one for the canopy and one for the floor. I had a giant Rattletrap, a big swimbait, Rago Generic Trout, and one of my big spinnerbaits(spinbomb). The canopy lovers were the main players. The variables were VERY funky today. Highly unusual conditions indeed, but we caught some bass non the less.

Got this guy on a pink and orange jig, pitching through the matts.

Brother Clark is still stuck in sandbass mode.

Sharm makes it into the photo report.

At this point Paul has broken of two BIG fish and I’ve broken off one. Eventually Drew broke a nice one too. This is not normal. FOUR big fish lost to breakage. My lower lip was sticking out so far from pouting that a seagull tried to land on it.

Drew finally figures out that we are calico fishing.

I got this guy on a Spinbomb. Pretty cool fish, I saw him right after I set the hook, then I watched the whole battle unfold. That smile is real.

OK well, We had the Sharmanator with us, so you know what that means…… Nearly 6lbs. Plucked right out of the kelp canopy. Go Paul, Go Paul, Go Paul….
