Spent a very lackadaisical day on the kelp floating around in a tranquil sea on a floating davenport with team Shishabarbz. Did a little fishing, some snorkeling, plenty of eating, drinking, and music to be had. The 7am topwater bite was very good off PL.

Barbz and I pretty much stuck to top water all day.

We didn’t catch much, but didn’t much care. I tried all day to get a calico on a frog or buzzbait, but not this time ‘round. Shishkabab was mixing it up with the jetty worms and doing pretty good.

He had a bass on twice this size in the afternoon, but it came unbuttoned about 2 feet shy of the net. I bought a ticket to the world…

Snorkeling was the best ever. I saw lot’s of calicos. The kelp forest is insanely beautiful when the water is clear.

Thank you to everyone who sends me photos and stories of their fishing adventures. Keep them coming!!

A couple of Summertime TJW and TSB tips:

When fishing a Jetty worms in open water, by all means pull the weedguard out, and when fishing for deep sea fish with a Spinbomb, slide a splitring over the line tie. This will keep the wire from flexing and trying to open and dramatically increase your pulling power.

This will also hold your wire leader in place when applicable.
