Spent Sunday afternoon out in Santa Monica Bay with Josh for some more bassin and buggin. The basin was a bit slow which I kind of expected due to the recent storm. We bounced around to a few different rock piles for a couple of bass and even tried for a trigger fish but only managed some perch. It was the buggin however that I thought had some real potential. There were lots of things going in our favor. First Josh claimed that the buggin was good right after the first storm of the season. Second, there was no moon. We also had some good bait. We used salmon heads cut in half and supplemented them with a mack in each cage. Finally we had a nice in coming tide. We started getting legal’s on our first set and ended up with 12 legal’s including one big boy in the 5 to 6 pound class. We had about 10 shorts as well as 1 octopus, some yellow and red crabs, snails and a couple of sculpin. Crawl seemed to stop when the tide maxed out.
