14523, SMB Hoop Report for 02-09-08

Took my friend John on his first hoping trip last night in SMB. This was my first chance to try out my new set of Promar Eclipse nets. I have them pretty pimped out with bait cages, upgraded line and the large floats.

I decided to put a small 3 net exploratory set on a new spot. We then made a second set of 7 nets on our regular spot. We pulled or fist net of the night out of the group of 7 with 5 bugs and 2 legals. A good start. We worked that first set for 1 more legal and then decided to go check the exploratory set. It was now sitting on a 1.25 hour soak. First net was a total blank without even a small crab or a piece of seaweed. I pull the second net without much hope, but hey, this one feels kinda heavy. Mr. 6 pounder is stretched out across the bottom of the net. Sweet, that is my new pb. We ended up putting another set of three there but came back for all blanks so we took them back to the other set. Ended up with limits for both of us by around 11. We ended up with a 6,5,4, 3+, a couple of 2’s.

We worked for them but it wasn’t to bad especially with that 6 pound big boy in the tank early.
