I took my 18 ft Invader up to Point Dune yesterday to get in on the wide open flatfish bite.I've never seen so many big halibut caught in one day.I saw four fish over 35 pounds, one pushing the 40 pound mark.About 20 over 20 pounds and two dozen in the 15 pound range. My leagal was the smallest one all day.It weighed
12 pounds.I was bounce balling, and losing alot of setups. All of the fish I saw came on sardines. The bass were also biting.I caught about a dozen calicos ,a few sandies, two ling cod,1 sheepshead ,1 sculpin. All the bass came on plastics. The halibut are all in 53 to 58 feet of water. If you want to catch a big one
Get out A.S.A.P..This bite has been going for a little over a week now.

Point Dume is located at the Northern tip of Santa Monica Bay. The halibut bite has slowed down a lot there, but there were still quite a few boats there the last time I went, which was last week.
