289, Tubing tomorrow at Goleta Beach
Posted by , Sun May-28-00 04:07 PM
Hey,
Just thought I would put it out there that a bunch of us will be out at Goleta Beach tomorrow float tubing for halibut. We'll be out in front of the "rock" where the cliff starts next to the parking lot. We'll be out around 2pm. Stop by, say hi, and go fish.
-Rob

Rob,
Saw you get one that you strung up. How big was it? Did you guys get any others? I got three up to 20 inches and an 18 inch white seabass.
Pete
You can't catch tomorrow what you kill today - please practice catch and release.
291, Big Un

The fish was 32" and weighed 14lbs. Best one I've ever caught tubing. It was a good battle and my buddy Ben Kronberg did a great job with the net. The fish gave us a nice soaking when Ben netted it. It was a kick. The bite otherwise was only so so for us. My neighbor Ben Hallock caught a legal about 24", Brian and my Dad each caught a short. I caught 3 other shorts to around 20". Green Sardine Fish Traps were the ticket for me as usual! I'll get the pic of the good one when I get back to San Luis. Tonight I'm going to check out the seabass action at the harbor around 7pm. Maybe I'll see ya out there.
-Rob

Nice job. I guess I was in the wrong spot! Where I was fishing was really hot Saturday afternoon so I thought I'd give it another shot. I should've come over and joined you guys - just seeing you catch that 32 incher would've been fun! On Saturday the first fish I caught tore up my last Sardine color so I switched to Keylime. It worked good as I caught 7 more and the 3 yesterday.
Pete
You can't catch tomorrow what you kill today - please practice catch and release.
