357, What's up with Stardust?
Posted by , Tue Jun-13-00 10:39 AM
I was all psyched to go out on the Stardust this weekend for the first time, especially after reading all the positive postings. Now I find out that it is booked with charters for the next few weekends! I had 6 guys ready to go and everything! I'm sure it is pretty open during the week, but who can take off time from work? I wish... Anyway, maybe SB needs another 1/2 day open-party boat? There definitely seems like enough demand out there, especially since Ventura Harbor has no landings anymore. I'm already getting ill at the thought of having to go down to Hueneme, CISCO's, or Hook's...

THERE IS A SECOND HALF DAY BOAT. IT IS THE HORNET. I BELIEVE IT BOARDS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE HARBOR FROM SEA LANDING. THE BOAT IS OLD, NOT NEARLY AS NICE AS THE STARDUST. PRIOR TO JASON ARRIVING THE HORNET CAUGHT ALOT OF FISH. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THE OPERATION IS NOW, BUT IT USED TO BE OKAY. BY THE WAY, IT IS WORTH WAITING FOR THE STARDUST. IF YOU LEAVE YOUR NAME AND NUMBER ON THE BOATS E-MAIL, YOU COULD PROBABLY JUMP ON A CHARTER THAT NEEDED PEOPLE, JUST A THOUGHT.

Yeah, there is the hornet. Quite frankly, i would rather wait a month for the stardust before going on the hornet. The hornet is much smaller, less clean, and looks pretty ghetto. I don't know about the crew as I haven't been on the boat since it left SeaLanding. The stardust is basically a kick ass boat and that's the bottom line. Even if you did get another half day at SeaLanding, it would still have a long way to go to compete with the stardust. How long is the boat booked? It shouldn't be chartered for too many weekends in a row, both saturday and sunday. Try to find out when the next open boat weekend trip is and go from there. There's also the Seahawk which is the 3/4 day and is also a very good quality boat. You might want to give that a try. If you've got the money go for the 1 day trip on the Seahawk and catch some white seabass.
