3779, The Condor's fishing schedule ???
Posted by MrTree, Wed Oct-31-01 10:15 AM
I was wondering if anyone has heard about the Condor doing overnighters. Recently, biteson.com had noted that the Condor would be fishing 3/4 day trips and overnighters. Was hoping they would be doing some late season albacore trips.

Does anyone have the scoop?

Don't know about an ongoing schedule, but I think they are running 3/4 day on friday and then albacore on Saturday night fishing Sunday or something like that. Probably have to call the landing to find out more scoop.

Cool dude, I am not 100% on going. Tough to do all day trips in one weekend driving 5 hours on either end, but we'll see how it goes. I'll post if I'm coming.
Anybody have any good long range weather forecasts?

The drive home only seems half as long if you land a 40 lb.'er - I promise!

What kind of talk is that??? Got the ok from the wife, weather's gonna hold, only thing keeping you is your own wussiness. We must determine who is the albacore king! lmao. Quit being a wuss and kill some tuna.

You got a 40lb rod for me or what? Being the long rod barni that I am, I may have to pilfer some of your gear. I figure the 800L will work out for a 20lb or 25lb rod, and I have the 900L for 30lb ( should kick my butt nicely ) but I'm hurt for the wide open meat rod.

Yeah, come on down Rob! When we all get on the boat we can put up $5 to prove who is the CONDORALBIEKING <jk>.

I'm hurting on the 40lb. rod too. I'll be bringing a 100lb. troll stick, a 20 and 25 lb. and probably fishing mostly with 30lb. If times get hard, I will have a jigmaster waiting with 40lb. Trying to get a buddy to lend me his TLDII 20 for the 40 lb.

Hope you can make it.

I HAVE RODS FOR ALL! lol, not really... I've got one 40# rod, but I can borrow one from somebody if you need one. Let me know if you need anything else, and I'll get it together. To let you know what I'll be bringing- 9ft. 15#, 6.5ft. 20#, 7ft. 25#, 8'6" 30#, 7' 40#, 6ft. 80#. I'll get a 40# and a 30# from somebody. If the fish are biting 20, you'll be covered. You can use my troll rod, or a boat rod.

Just read a post on allcoast recapping a fishing trip on the Pacific Queen for 10/30. They got fish in the 40-60 lb. class.

Anyone have any weather info. for this weekend?

Brian and I have been discussing the weather at great length :-)
I would say that it's hard to tell but I don't think it will be too bad. The jet stream looks like it will stay pretty far to the north, maybe coming down a little on Sunday, but overall I don't think it will be too windy. My only concern is that it looks like there could be some decent swell out there. Whether it sucks or not will depend on the interval. I guess we'll know on Saturday night how rough it is. The important thing is that there are some big albamacores out there that need killing }>

I talked to Jason about his trip Tuesday. He said the fish were biting 40 pretty good but that they were a little hook shy, so they were using #1's. He said they also got some fish on the iron but most fish were on bait. Fish were averaging around 30lbs and a few over 40.

Nice when they bite the heavier test.

So Rob, I hear there is a little side contest going on fishing the slide - fish trap vs. swimbait. Count me in with the Megabait! When they are WFO I think you can throw anything on a hook and get bit though.

mmm, I don't know if I will bet that one. I haven't heard of many fish on the plastic and I know that megabait jig has been getting a lot of fish. Maybe we should change the bet to who gets the most fish, or who gets the biggest one? The usual inshore bet is swimbaits (me) vs. fastrac (Brian). It's a little harder to find a good fun bet with the albacore. Maybe we could say whoever gets the biggest tuna get's to be called king of the guppies, or number 1 chicken man? Just kidding....

We'll think of something fun on Saturday night.

Just made reservations with my gift certificate. Best $27 I ever spent! lmao. Unfortunately I have to work on Saturday night at 5, but I told me manager that I have a boat to catch at 10, so I should be out of there in time. If not, I might just have to go on an extended lot check at about 10:30... j/k The manager working that night is cool though, so I should be off in time. Stoked!

Called Sea Landing at 4:00 pm to get a reservation for a buddy and the boat is full. Nice being able to go on an albie trip when you only have to drive a few minutes to the landing.

Yeah, can't beat that. I'm already payed in full and ready to go. Rob is on his way down right now, we're gonna go do some last minute tackle hoing tomorrow, and then we will be ready to kill! Today's trip was quite beneficial in preparing me for tomorrow's trip (that sentence sounds so awesome...). The bait is super super small up there, and they're all green and blue tiny chovies, with some sauries around (but not too many). The purple/black was not getting the job done. I think it's cause the bigger, "snake" chovies are usually the ones that are dark black or purple, and the tiny little 3" ones are green and blue and light colored. So, I'm going to alter my game plan and troll green/white and fish green and/or blue megabaits. It would've been tough getting bit on 30. We got all of our biters (and that wasn't very many...) on 20#. I'm really considering buying some spectra tomorrow, cause when I hooked that beast today, I was afraid... There are definiteley some enormous fish up there. The rats are 25#. Pretty incredible. Man, I'm amped. Alright, settle down, breath through your nose, ok. See ya tomorrow.
