Fished with Chris, a friend of Steve (he threw out his back on the way down, so he went home w/out fishing). Tide wasn't moving much, wind was chilly and variable in both direction and speed. We worked a pretty big area, with the section from the bridge back into the first few boats in each row producing the best. The 3rd bridge base was holding quite a few active fish. We'd basically hit the base and let the bait drop to the bottom. I think I got 4 this way, and Chris had 2 or 3.

Chris had all his fish on some freakbaits Steve gave him, and some on the Edhog. Me I fished lots of different stuff looking for a bait that might bring in some bigger fish. I spent a good hour with the 9" grub, but only got short bit. 3" tubes and Edhogs had the best results for me. Motoroil/red and gold flake seemed the best color. Though smoke/sparkle accounted for a few.

I finished w/ 13+ fish, mostly spotties. Chris had 10 or 12 I think. He also had big fish, a 3-4# sandy. My best was a spottie that was maybe 2#, and I think only 4 other legals. Fish were small shortbiters. I hope this place holds better than we found last night. I'll try it again in the daytime. If they are small then too, I'll stick with Shelter.

Chris' sandy was the biggest fish he has ever caught, so he was very very stoked. This also rubbed off on me. I guess I get a little jaded some times, and he helped to remind me what it's all about. He was stoked just to be on the water, then he beat his best. He was a happy camper.

Hey Amished

Kind of amazing how easy one can lose perspective Huh???

Tidelands park is one of my favorite places to fish and I just thought I'd pass on that it can be pretty good in front of the golf course on the south side of the bridge, in the days leading up to and including full moon (provided that there is a grunion run at that time). The grunion seem to stage in that area from south of the bridge all the way to the ferry landing. I've caught Hali's there as well as the elusive shortfin corvina, and bass...Believe it or not when the grunion are there I've caught fish on YO-Zuri poppers. Most of the bass there are small and there are mostly spotties, but when conditions are right you get a chance to see halibut getting airborne.

Good job on the fish...

Tight Lines...............

Thanks for the confirmation CP. I think I'll leave that place for the grunion action. I know when they are in the fishing gets pretty fun there. Heard plenty of stories about 'buts and corvina when the runs happen. I guess most of the bass reports I've heard have related good #'s, not size.

Hoping to hit the Sea this sat. But, that's only if I get over this nasty cold/flu I've got. Home sick today, so we'll see about this weekend. Definitely no pond action tonight though.
