went down to fish silver strand after work with the brother in law and a coworker, got on the bridge only to go thru the worst bit of traffic that i've ever been on, not even the border wait back to the states, came close and on top of all in the middle of coronado. it took us one hour and twenty minutes to get from the bridge to the coronado towers, regardles it was well worth it, we got to silver strand park at a bit after six thirty, rigged up and walked down to the beach, hardly any crabs anywhere and the few small ones that we got didnt get bit, the started picking up small clams and baiting with them, we started getting nibbles, then we found two big prismos, we opened them up and chopped up the foot for bait, almost immediately slab perch, left and right, in beteen the three of us tallied about 12+ perch one leopard of about 4' (which by the way fought like a whale on an ultralight trout outfit with 4# string)
one shovelnose of about 4.5' a 15# batray and two lost big fish right at the surf. all fish released but three of the perch that didnt seem to survive the hook, one of them turned to bait for three of the sharks and two were invited to dinner.
all in all it was the best day in the surf we've had in quite a few months, no corbina but lots of fun.
