8178, Oceanside Surf Report 10/3
Posted by Aztecwin, Sun Nov-03-02 02:30 PM
I fished my usual haunts early this morning south of the Oceanside Pier. Got down there around 6:30 a.m. for the incoming high tide. Sold my Fenwick 8'6" Salmon/Steelhead Rod to my Bro and ordered a Fenwick Light Action 9'0" through Boss Bait and Tackle. HMX Series. Did the grub thing with smelly jelly shrimp but also took a tip from a fellow poster here and bought some salmon eggs .

Used the Kalin 1.5" Motoroil Gold Flake and Perch Power for a total of:

5 small yellowfin croaker
1 12" corbina
1 10# bat ray
19 bardies

None of the Perch had any real size to them. The water was cleaner than last weekend. Surf was small which surprized me as there were reports earlier in the week that we were going to get hammered by a substantial swell. The Salmon Eggs did seem to get bit pretty good. I will continue to experiment with them.

Tight Lines!
