The certified world record barred perch came from Oxnard a couple of years ago. I believe it is just over five pounds. I don't know the Oxnard area, but the guy who got it has been fishing there for decades. He always gets a limit and he never keeps anything under three pounds. If you want to see the fish, an exact-size reproduction is hanging over the counter at Wylie's tackle shop in Malibu. If he takes a liking to you, he might even tell you where the fish was caught.
