Got down to the beach around 6am to find out they're charging to park again. So, not having $6 I started looking for an alt. launch. Checked Little Corona, but the launched looked harder than Big C. So, I parked at the south end of Big C. and hoofed it down that steep path. The launch ended up being a little wet.

I found out two important things about my Tourer. One, it doesn't go over waves (even small ones). This was discovered rapidly and I almost rolled as a 2' wave pushed me sideways. At this point I learned lesson #2. No matter how much water a Tourer holds, it holds a lot more if your scupper plugs are in. Luckily I got enough speed to push THROUGH the next wave and was out of the impact zone. After some major bailing I was headed south.

Considering the 58º water and post front conditions my original plan was to search out deeper water stones and to look for calicos. But, after about 10min. my FF battery decided otherwise. So, it was boiler fishing for Ed. Turned out not so bad though. I finished with 7 legals and 4 or 5 shorts. Most were calico, but my two best were sandies about 3.5 and 4. Best calico was about 2.5.

The bigger sandy came on Baby Bass Zoom on a sledhead. The rest came on Tight Line Lures Zipper Shads, in watermelon/redflake, motor oil/red flake or dark purple/hologram flake. Most I fished fullsize on a bigger sledhead, but some I bit down to 5" and stuck on a smaller sledhead. At this point I should mention that I am now on Tight Line Lures Pro Staff, so obviously I am now affililiated with them. Hopefully their website will be up soon, but I can post pics for anyone that wants to see something I'm using.

Weather was nice, with only a slight south wind and partly cloudy skies. Water was cold, but didn't seem to stop all the bite. Off color just enough, and the current changed with each spot. Waves varied with each rock pile, but it was just big enough at a couple places that I had to keep awake. Saw a couple other yaks out there, but they were too far away to see how they were doing.
