11128, New Pics: Bettencourt Baits RealFish Trout (Large)

The RealFish trout series from Bettencourt Baits has been out for a while now but I just recently got a hold of this 10" sinking model of the RealFish trout. This is a wood bait, drilled out and weighted to sink at about a ROF5 rate.

Nathan is doing an interesting thing with the fins, using fur but gluing or laminating them in a way that binds them in to a pliable form. The finish is a "photo finish" that looks great not only in the photos you'll see here but also in real life.

Hooks and hardware are solid. I don't usually use silver hooks but they match well with this bait and they look right when you run it past the side of the boat to check it out.

After watching the YouTube clip of the floating model on bettencourtbaits.com I wasn't tremendously impressed with the action of this sinking model to be honest. It felt like the additional weight was deadening the action too much. The head of the lure has good kick but the tail looks static, which just didn't seem right to my eye.

We'll get it in the video deal here in the future so y'all can take a look and see what you think. I remember when the Castaic T-29 came out, I was totally nonplussed by the action and said so. But I hear little mumblings here and there that people like that bait today. Point is, action is subjective. Meanwhile, check out the photos and write in if you own one.
