12154, Goals for the New Year
Posted by swimbait, Mon Jan-14-13 03:00 PM
Dang, January 14th already :) It's time for the goals for the new year post already! Last year was a pretty thorough fail for me :) I was hoping to get a 10lber on video. Instead I broke my rod on a 9lber (and the line at the same time) and jumped off a 14lber on 8lb test.

The other goal was to win the ABA TOC. Instead we didn't fish enough tourney's to make the TOC, did the Bob's Marine instead, lost the motor day 1 and finished out of the money. It's the adventure that matters.

This year... I think catching 30lbs on video at Clear Lake in a tourney would be cool. Catching a 10lber on video would be a bonus. Let's hear yours.

Memory lane:

Since I am taking the year off from tournaments my only goal is with Michael, my 10 year old. He flipped his PB at 4-11 last year and he wants to get his first spotted bass and smallie. I would also like to see him break his PB LM but that could be a long shot. Also want to get him his first kickboat fish. 2013 is going to be a fun year with only 1 event on the schedule, TBF Divisional at Havasu. The rest of the time will be on the water with Michael

You ever gone to San Pablo in a kickboat? It might be a great place to take kids. Lots of fish close to the ramp, 5mph speed limit on a big productive section around the ramp, big spotted bass, heavy cover flip bite... OK, now I want to go :)

Goals this year? Not much. Catch at least one huge fish, have at least one great tournament, and have a lot of fun the rest of the time.

2012 was a good year. My partner and I took a 2nd place in the FLW College series at Shasta in Jan., and then placed 5th in the Conference Championship in Utah. So, in April we are headed to Beaver Lake in Arkansas for Nationals.

2013:

-Win Nationals. Not 2nd, not top 5, 1st.
- Fish my first US Open
- Get a DD
- Fish the Everstart at Clear as an Am (the Open having more priority)

Its a big list of stuff, but I need the challenge. 2012 was good, but I wan to make 2013 incredible.

I have never taken the kick to Pablo. Actually only been there 2x. Once with Rob and once from shore. I would also like to take the boat out there but have never looked into the rules if I can. Good idea though

Since I sold my boat I just fish at my house now. I already beat my goal for the year which was to catch a 6lber from the lake where I live. It took 4 1/2 years to do but I finally did it. I've caught three over 6 already this year, two of which were over 7lbs so I guess my goal now is to catch one over 8lbs. Need to get out and toss swimbaits at lakes a few times, not just at my house!
