12195, We moved to Louisiana

In June we sold our home in the East Bay and flew to New Orleans to start a new chapter in this adventure called life. We're living on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain, 40 miles north of Bayou Segnette (to give a fishing landmark).

I moved for work. Working for a fortune 5 company, they have a thing about moving people around. It was an opportunity and we took it. The boys are 4 and 1. They're having a good time here. There's a pond a few houses down and we've educated a few bass there this summer. Turtles and gar make for extra entertainment :)

My lifetime California fishing license is still in my wallet. Sitting next to my Louisiana and Texas ones. With luck I'll add Mississippi and Arkansas soon. I consider myself an American first and foremost. The fish don't know where the map says they live ;)

The site will always be here. I have no plans to change what it is. Starting from a 2mb college account and a url with a tilde in it, I could never quit now. There's a question that keeps rolling through my head though which is... what next?

Before we moved Nico and I were running 2 GoPros during the ABA Northern Region team tourneys and posting the clip on every catch. It felt good to be the antithesis of tournament fishing. And so far I see nothing in the prop wash.

That tells me that like always, I'm out in left field somewhere, chasing frogs and not watching for the ball. Wherever the site goes I hope it will be somewhere out there.

Fishing for bass around here? Not great for the trophy hunter. Numbers, but small. Dudes have 8lbers hanging on the wall. I sold the small boat but I brought the ChampioN. The swamp is beautiful to fish and you can probably get a frog bite 12 months out of the year.

Texas is not far. I'm looking at Basschamps as a tourney option. Rayburn last month was cool. You could feel the history driving up the lake. Toledo Bend looks immense on the map. I want to run a boat lane in the fog just to have a story to tell.

Swimbait fishing? Dude, they're bass. Bass eat fish. The rest is lure selection and timing. Here's a pic from the Umphrey Pavillion. I'll be in touch.

What a cool experience for you and your family. I was in Arkansas for FLW College Nationals in April, the South has so much fishing. Been wanting to go back ever since. The change in fisheries from the Texas/Louisiana border region to the Ozarks where Beaver is located is pretty big, you can pretty much fish any type of water you like out there. Congrats on the big move and hope you enjoy your time there!

Good for you Rob! And I thought moving to Sacramento was rough lol. Thank you for keeping this site going for all these years and into the future. Take care, and I look forward to reading your reports from out there!
